One Million Drops Project
Building bridges through water, partnership, and sustainable impact.
One Million Drops: Building Bridges Through Water.
Water Connects Everything
Water is more than a resource; it is the foundation for health, education, livelihoods, environmental stewardship, and community resilience. Through global partnerships and local leadership, The One Million Drops Project helps transform sustainable water solutions into lasting impact.
Water is essential to every aspect of life, yet billions of people around the world still lack access to safe and reliable drinking water. Today, more than 2.1 billion people, nearly one in four globally, do not have access to safely managed drinking water services. An additional 3.4 billion people lack safely managed sanitation, while 1.7 billion people still lack basic hygiene services at home.
The impacts extend far beyond thirst. Limited access to clean water affects health, education, economic opportunity, food security, and environmental sustainability. Women and children often bear the greatest burden, spending countless hours collecting water that could otherwise be spent in school, at work, or with their families. In many regions, growing populations, climate change, drought, and environmental degradation are placing increasing pressure on already fragile water resources.
Yet water also represents one of the greatest opportunities for positive change. Sustainable water solutions can improve public health, strengthen local economies, support education, protect ecosystems, and build resilience for future generations. Through collaboration, innovation, and community leadership, One Million Drops is helping transform one of the world’s greatest challenges into a catalyst for lasting impact.
Through Rotary International, the One Million Drops initiative seeks to transform individual actions into a larger movement for global water stewardship and collaborative impact.
Built on the belief that water connects people, ecosystems, and economies, the initiative brings together environmental organizations, service networks, businesses, and local communities to help strengthen water access, resilience, and long-term sustainability worldwide.
